Benign and malignant tumors can arise in the paranasal sinuses and skull base. Such tumors can sometimes produce symptoms similar to those with allergies, chronic sinusitis, or nasal polyps. Symptoms may include nasal obstruction, facial pressure, decreased sense of smell, or increased nasal drainage. However, patients may also have more dramatic symptoms such as loss of vision, facial numbness, or nasal bleeding. Sinus and skull base tumors can often be removed endoscopically by experienced and well-trained surgeons but occasionally may need to be excised using open techniques.
Skull Base Tumor Surgery
Dr. Arthur Wu is a fellowship trained Rhinologist – Endoscopic Sinus and Los Angeles Skull Base Tumor Surgeon. Dr. Wu has extensive experience in these techniques. Frequently these types of tumors involve the intracranial cavity (the brain and surrounding areas). In these situations, Dr. Wu works with a neurosurgeon that is also specially trained to remove such tumors through the nose.
Dr. Arthur Wu | Los Angeles Skull Base Tumor Surgeon
As surgical technology has progressed over the last decade, Los Angeles endoscopic sinus surgeons have translated their skill set to the removal of benign and malignant tumors of the sinus and skull base. Tumors that may have previously been removed using large disfiguring incisions and requiring lengthy postoperative hospital stays are now able to be removed entirely through the nose. Patients tend to have less major complications and have shorter hospital stays afterwards in addition to avoiding cosmetically displeasing incisions.

Dr. Ho is fellowship trained in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and has extensive expertise in the treatment of malignant sinonasal and skull base tumors.
