Having the expertise of a professional Los Angeles Allergist is the first step in combatting one of the most prevalent ailments. One of the most common medical conditions in the United States is nasal allergies. Nasal Allergies and allergic rhinitis affect 30% of the population. Approximately 50 million Americans are afflicted with the symptoms relating to severe allergies. Seeking the help of an experienced Los Angeles allergist doctor may be your only chance at finding relief and breathing easy again.
Allergic rhinitis is a hyperactivity of the immune system that causes inflammation of the nasal and sinus cavities known colloquially as “hay fever.” Exposure to normal air particulates such as dust, mold, pollen, and animal dander act as “allergens” in patients with allergic rhinitis, triggering the release of inflammatory chemicals within the nose and sinuses.
ENT & Allergist Los Angeles
There are multiple symptoms related to severe allergies that can greatly interfere with your daily life and overall wellbeing. Allergy to certain pollens may cause only seasonal exacerbations of symptoms as is common in “hay fever.” However, allergy to allergens like mold or dust may lead to chronic symptoms that exist all year long, which is known as perennial allergy. Initial treatment from a Los Angeles allergist, such as Dr. Wu, includes oral antihistamines, nasal steroid sprays, nasal antihistamine sprays, and saline rinses. Failure of initial medical therapy may require allergy testing and allergy shots by an allergist or surgery depending on he clinical circumstances.
